I attended the Rain forest Show on Saturday that was canceled in the middle of it by the animal control because of a city ordinance? This show had already been done several times during the week for our children in school. It was an educational show done with humor to keep the kids interested. Parents were invited to the last show to bring their kids for a nominal fee at the Laura Speed Elliott school. It started and was great for all ages. I could really enjoy learning with my children about how to respect the environment and be a good person. What a great program for kids. However, about 30 minutes into the program the gentleman running it came and told everyone that they had to leave due to Animal Control telling him that it was against a Boonville Ordinance to have the animals in town????? It was OK I guess during the four days prior until the last show. I could not believe my eyes. THE CITY OF BOONVILLE was shutting this educational show down in the middle of it because of an ordinance? What ever happened to enforcing the spirit of the law instead of the letter of the law. If every ordinance was enforced I think we might have some problems. There was a man walking down main street with a snake wrapped around him and nothing was said. What a SHAME. I think that the City of Boonville needs to offer a letter of apology. Why would someone shut them down on there forth and last day in the middle of the show. Whoever made this decision made a bad one in my eyes. The man who was running this program explained that while traveling across the US, he had never had this happen. I am sure that Boonville will be put on the Map for this one. Good job to who ever made this decision. Way to enforce the laws!!!!
