****PRESS RELEASE BOONVILLE PD*****
On Monday November 7, 2017 at 7:22 A.M. Boonville Police Officers were dispatched to the Boonville High School for a reported threat.
An investigation was conducted by the Police Department along with the Cooper County Juvenile Office assisted by the BHS Administration and the Cooper County Sheriff’s Department.
The investigation resulted in one student being taken into custody at the school. Since the student is a juvenile no other information can be released at this time. The Cooper County Juvenile Office will handle any further adjudication.
The BHS Administration reported the incident as soon as they learned of the threat. The student was at the school and was immediately contacted by authorities conducting the investigation.
Due to the situation being resolved in a matter of minutes and the student being removed from the school we did not feel the need to send out an advisory. We determined there was no immediate threat to any students or faculty and did not want to alarm students, faculty, parents, or the public.
The BHS Administration handled the situation in a very professional manner and reported it immediately to the Boonville Police Department and assisted our department throughout the investigation.
No other information will be available at this time.
